Worker urge FG to pay new minimum wage before year end

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has called on the federal, state and Local Governments to implement the new minimum wage before the year ends.Chairman of the Gombe State chapter of the association, Comrade Uloko Sule, made the call yesterday at the opening of a workshop for senior civil servants in the state.He said workers expect the three tiers of government to treat the issue with some level of urgency so that ‘‘workers who have waited for so long can have a new lease of life’’.The chairman added that the theme of this year’s workshop, “Towards a corrupt free public service,” was carefully selected to examine the state of public service delivery system and explore the possibility of delivering corruption-free public service to the people.He pledged that at the end of the workshop, “we will further fine-tune our strategy that will continue to uplift the public service and ensure efficient service delivery in the country.Declaring the workshop open, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, called on relevant anti-corruption agencies in the country to embark on massive public enlightenment campaigns to canvass for attitudinal change among Nigerians.Represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Alhaji Usman Shamaki, the governor urged civil servants in the state to shun corrupt practices and rededicate themselves to their duties, to fast track the development of the state.Share this article
